Do Toronto Taxis accept American dollars (USD)?
The majority of Toronto taxis will accept American dollars depending on the exchange rates. We reccomend having canadian dollars or using a credit card. Most Toronto taxis will accept credit cards but you should confirm with the driver before starting your trip.
Do Toronto taxis have flat rate fares?
Yes and No. Toronto Taxis will give you a flat rate to and from pearson international airport. Toronto taxi drivers are not permitted to charge flat charges except if they’re going to or from the airport or their location is greater than 5 km outside of the limits of the City of Toronto. But even so, they should have the meter on until they reach that point. If the meter isn’t on, they can’t legitimately collect from the rider. However if you ask the driver at the start of the trip they may do it anyway.
Do Toronto Taxis allow dogs?

What is the light on the back of Toronto taxis for?
All Toronto taxis have an emergency light on the back of the car. This is for the Toronto taxis drivers safety, if you see this flashing please call 911!
Are Toronto Taxi drivers allowed to talk on their cell phone?
While hired Toronto taxi drivers are required by law not to use a cell phone even if they have a hands-free device.
Do you need to wear a seat belt in a Toronto taxi?
While Toronto taxi drivers are exempt from seat belt laws, passengers are required by law to wear a seatbelt while in a Toronto taxi.
Can taxis recommend hotels and restaurants?
Taxis in Toronto can not recommend any hotel or restautant unless specfically requested by you.
